Carson Wentz in good spirits as he ribs Lane Johnson for penalty on play he got hurt

All of Philadelphia and most of the NFL world as a whole is rather depressed about the news Carson Wentz is done for the season. But the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback still is keeping a positive attitude.

Wentz, who offered fans an inspirational Twitter message Sunday night after he tore his ACL, also was cracking jokes on the team flight home.

In an Instagram video posted by Eagles running back Kenjon Barner from what appears to be the Eagles’ flight home, you can hear in the background Wentz giving offensive tackle Lane Johnson a hard time about getting called for penalties on two touchdown runs by Wentz. On the second one, Wentz dove into the end zone and was hit hard, and that’s what tore his ACL. A holding penalty by Johnson nullified the touchdown, though Wentz stayed in the game and threw another TD … on a torn ACL. Earlier in the game, Johnson’s false start wiped out another rushing touchdown for Wentz.

It’s pretty clear the two teammates were laughing and joking during the exchange heard in the background of Barner’s video:

“I ran in two touchdowns today and you took them both away,” Wentz said on the video (h/t to NBC Sports Philly).

“You got a lot of nerve coming at me like that,” Johnson said.

This isn’t quite as explosive as Antonio Brown’s Facebook Live behind the scenes faux pas from last season, though the Eagles might want to talk to Barner about broadcasting live. But this time it’s all relatively mundane.

If nothing else, Wentz seems to be taking the news of his injury better than everyone else.
