Cargo Space and Storage Rating:

Although the narrow interior and stadium-seating layout restrict space for passengers, trick rear seats open up plenty of room for storage. Whereas most SUVs have second-row seats that fold down to create a level load floor with the cargo area, the G-wagens’ elevated second-row seats sit on top of that load floor. To provide a flat floor, the G-classes’ second row folds down and flips forward against the back of the front seats. This creates a fairly large cargo space, but it is best suited to holding short boxy items such as carry-on bags. No wonder the G did well in our carry-on test.

What’s New for 2018?

The G63 and G65 have the same cargo volume and interior cubby storage for 2018. That means the same impressive carry-on capacity but also disappointing small-item storage.
