At just 30 years old, Carey Price has already established a new goaltending benchmark for the oldest and winningest franchise in the NHL.

The Habs netminder made his 557th appearance for the Blue, Red and White on Tuesday — vaulting him past legend Jacques Plante for the most games played among Canadiens goalies in club history.

The team honoured its netminder during an early stoppage of play with a scoreboard video tribute, followed by a roaring standing ovation from the Montreal faithful:

The Anahim Lake native has posted a career .919 save percentage, 40 shutouts, and a regular season record of 286-200-61 entering Tuesday night’s action. Price had a career year in 2014-15 when he captured a plethora of awards including the Hart Trophy, Vezina, and Lester B. Pearson awards as the league’s MVP, top goaltender and most outstanding player as voted on by his peers.

Averaging over 54 starts during his nine (healthy) NHL seasons and with his eight-year, $84-million contract extension kicking in next season, it’s fair to expect that Price will makes this an unbreakable mark when it’s all said and done.
