CareSource taking applications for grants to Polk County nonprofit organizations

The CareSource Foundation is offering funding to nonprofit organizations in Florida through the CareSource Foundation Grant Challenge.

The program will award $400,000 to community-based organizations and nonprofits in Florida focused on demonstrating effective, practical solutions to address the needs of children and youth in medically complex care, the organization said in a news release.

CareSource is a nonprofit managed-care organization that administers one of the fastest growing Medicaid managed care plans in the country, the release said. The nomination window is open through March 9 in the region that includes Polk County, and nonprofits can submit themselves to win $50,000.

All applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of a multi-state panel of experts and the CareSource Foundation staff. After finalists are selected, public voting will take place beginning March 29. Supporters will be able to vote for an organization once a day through May 12.
