Woman, 2 young children seriously injured in Darke County crash

UPDATE @ 12:32 p.m.:

Two young children and a woman were seriously injured in a crash in Darke County on Thursday morning.

Darke County Sheriff’s deputies and medics were dispatched just after 8 a.m. to the intersection of State Route 121 and Weavers Fort Jefferson Road on initial reports of a two-vehicle head-on crash.

An initial investigation showed that a blue Buick Lesabre was going northbound on SR 121 and approaching Weavers Fort Jefferson Road. The driver, a 42-year-old Richmond, Indiana woman, went to make a left turn onto Weavers Fort Jefferson Road and turned into a brown 2013 Hyundai Accent that was going southbound, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the Buick was treated and released from the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 24-year-old Greenville woman, was mechanically extricated from the car and flown to Miami Valley Hospital in serious condition.

There was a 6-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy in the Hyundai at the time of the crash. They were both flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital and are both in serious condition.

The crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
