Make it two straight wins for the Cardinals over the Padres after their 5-2 victory on Tuesday night in San Diego.

Willson Contreras put the Cardinals ahead for good in the sixth inning with a two run homer giving the Birds a 3-2 lead. It was Contreras’ second homer in as any games. Brendan Donovan remains hot with the bat, getting two hits and scoring two runs.

Miles Mikolas was the winning pitcher, throwing six solid innings allowing two runs while striking out four. Ryan Helsley pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his first save of the season.

The Cardinals go for the series sweep in San Diego on Wednesday afternoon. They return home on Thursday to play their home opener against the Miami Marlins.
