Woman charged with making child porn for online boyfriend

LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of PA announced Friday that a Lackawanna County woman is being charged with producing and distributing child pornography.

U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam says Mykayliah Hevener, 25, of Carbondale, was indicted Tuesday on charges of producing and distributing pictures and videos of herself engaging in sexual activities with a toddler.

According to the indictment, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) reported a cyber tip of a Verizon user who was sending or receiving child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Investigators say the phone number belonged to a man residing in Tipton, Iowa, who Hevener had an online sexual relationship with.

The indictment reads that a forensic examination of the phone, produced around “a dozen videos” that appear to be screen recordings of Hevener with a toddler. Officers say they also found a phone number associated with Hevener.

According to law enforcement, a database search revealed Hevener lived in the 100 block of Birkett Street in Carbondale, since October 2020.

On April 4, 2024, federal agents of the FBI Scranton office executed a search warrant at Hevener’s home, during which she agreed to be interviewed.

According to the indictment, Heverner told law enforcement she made the videos for the man she had an online sexual relationship with because he was “sexually attracted to children.”

Investigators say Hevener told law enforcement the man would request the video chats and she would do so using Snapchat to provide the man with sexual gratification.

U.S. Attorneys say that the maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is 30 years in prison, a term of supervised release, and a fine.
