Carbon monoxide leak at nursing, rehab facility in Adelphi; people evaluated

ADELPHI, Md. (DC News Now) — Emergency crews and staff members worked to evacuate a nursing and rehabilitation facility Monday morning because of a dangerous carbon monoxide leak.

The leak was at Sterling Care Hillhaven, located at 3210 Powder Mill Rd.

Prince George’s County Fire/EMS said crews evaluated 18 people who live there and 10 staff members. Medics took two people who live in the facility to the hospital for evaluation. They had symptoms that were not considered life-threatening.

The facility’s website says it offers “a range of services including short-term inpatient rehab, skilled nursing care, and long-term care” for people who live there.

U.S. News & World Report Health says there are 66 beds at the Hillhaven location.
