Cara Delevingne stars in first Instagram high-fashion shoot

In the perfect blending of social media resources, fashion website SHOWstudio has unveiled via Tumblr and Twitter what has been dubbed the first high-fashion Instagram shoot.

Director Nick Knight used effects provided by the mobile phone application for the shoot, which was described as being “inspired by Internet memes, animal GIFs and Autumn/Winter 2012's taste for grown-up, blown-up overdressing.”

British model Cara Delevingne can be seen in the pictures, where she showcases fashion and jewelry from the likes of Mary Katrantzou and Van Cleef and Arpels and is joined by an array of cute animals including kittens and baby chicks. Instagram hit the headlines when it was purchased by social network Facebook earlier this month, although the fashion industry was one of the earliest adopters of the now ubiquitous photo app. It has catapulted street style photographers such as takinyerphoto and thomas_k into the limelight as well as being embraced by brands including Kate Spade New York.
