UPDATE: Car flips over on Veteran’s Parkway during chase with sheriff’s office

UPDATE 3/7/23 3:59 p.m.: The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office has released new details on the car that flipped over on Veteran’s Parkway Thursday afternoon.

Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman confirmed to WRBL the department’s Special Operations Unit was trying to stop a wanted suspect with 15 warrants. The sheriff’s office says it used a pit maneuver during the pursuit.

The suspect was wanted by several agencies on various charges including felony escape, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, felon Violation of Probation burglary and others.

The sheriff says the suspect will have charges added on by the Special Operations Unit. There’s no information on the injuries at this time.

PCPD warns locals about ongoing police impersonator scam

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Drivers may want to avoid a portion of Veterans Parkway. Veterans Parkway is completely closed from 18th Street southbound to 15th Street.

Deputies from the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office are on the scene, where a vehicle is flipped over near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and 18th Street.

Part of northbound Veterans Parkway is down to one lane near 15th Street to 18th Street.
