Car fire backs up eastbound traffic on Highway 24

(KRON) — Eastbound traffic on Highway 24 was severely backed up on Friday afternoon due to a car fire in the Caldecott Tunnel, according to Caltrans’ traffic log. All lanes are now open.

The fire was reported at 3:46 p.m., with Caltrans saying the car was fully engulfed in flames. Three lanes of the highway were shut down.

Caltrans’ traffic camera showed traffic backed up to Telegraph Avenue in Oakland.
