Capella Hotels opens 1st US property in Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new luxury hotel is opening in Washington's Georgetown neighborhood, promising a new model for business travelers and after-hours access to the city's cultural attractions.

Capella Hotels and Resorts unveiled the property along the C & O Canal on Wednesday. The 49-room Capella Washington features personal assistants around the clock, rather than a front desk.

Officials with the hotel group say it will offer guests special access to attractions including the Washington Ballet and private, after-hours shopping with a resident stylist.

The group decided to make Washington its first U.S. location, rather than a larger market, because the capital city is a hub for international diplomats, government business and finance.

The new property is owned by Castleton Hotel Partners I LLC.
