Canton store robberies: Police arrest 18-year-old suspect

CANTON ‒ Police have arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with three armed robberies of local businesses.

The man was arrested on warrants Friday by Canton police in the 800 block of Alan Page Drive and charged with three counts of felony aggravated robbery.

Through their investigation Canton detectives were able to identify the suspect, according to a new release issued Monday. Working with the Canton city prosecutors they obtained several warrants for the man's arrest.

He was located in the 800 block of Alan Page Drive on Friday.

In the first incident, a man dressed in a black hoodie, gray pants, white shoes and wearing a black face mask approached the clerk at the Bell Store at 3812 Cleveland Ave. NW, around 7:45 a.m. Jan. 17. The masked man showed a handgun and demanded money from the register.

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The next morning around 5:33 a.m. the same man entered the Circle K store at 2535 Fulton Road NW. He once again pulled out a handgun and robbed the clerk at gunpoint and fled the store on foot heading north with an undisclosed amount of cash.

In a third incident, the man is accused of showing a handgun and demanding money from a clerk at a Family Dollar store.

He was arraigned in Canton Municipal Court Monday by Judge Curt Werren. Bond was set at $750,000.
