Canisteo-Greenwood wrestling wins seventh straight section title

CANISTEO, N.Y. (WETM) – Canisteo-Greenwood wrestling has added to their trophy collection once again.

Canisteo-Greenwood wrestling took home their 7th straight Section V Class B2 crown, on Saturday. The Chargers dominated the at the Rochester Institute of Technology, winning the team title by 91.5 points over 2nd place Letchworth. C-G had 4 individual winners, including multi-time champions Colton Havens (4-times), Gavin Bob (3-times), and Beau Zeh (2-times). Additionally, Zeh was named most outstanding wrestling in the heavyweight division. C-G’s 4th winner, Dylan Depew-Cappadonia won the 118 pound title and picked up his 100th varsity win in the process.

On top of 4 individual champions, 9 other C-G wrestlers placed in the top 5. Connor McCaffrey (108), Carson Turner (170), and Skyler Miles (215) took 2nd place. In 3rd was Lucas Mason (152) and Austin Hall (131). Mathias Sharp (138) and Luke Zeh (190) took 4th. Garrett “Peanut” Hall (101) and Triston Williamson (131) claimed 5th.

With the impressive effort of the team, 13 of 15 members of the Chargers squad have advanced to the Super-Sectionals state qualifier at SUNY Brockport next weekend.
