Chinatown town hall held for SF District 3 supervisor candidates

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — In San Francisco, candidates running for the SF Board of Supervisors gathered for a town hall in the Chinatown area Wednesday night. Discussion at the event, which was moderated by KRON4’s Stephanie Lin, focused on District 3, which covers notable areas including Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, the Financial District and Chinatown.

Gov. Newsom to deploy attorneys to Oakland to boost prosecutions

The key topic of the night was fair language access. Candidates were asked how they would bridge the language gap for the city’s tens of thousands of immigrant residents.

Candidates in attendance included:

  • Community organizer Danny Sauter

  • Business owner Matt Susk

  • Deputy City Attorney Moe Jamil

  • Homeless advocate J. Conr B. Ortega

  • Former City Commissioner Sharon Lai

The election for the board of supes may be months away in November, but the race is already underway. Whoever wins the seat will replace Board President Aaron Peskin, who is terming out.
