Candice Bergen turns heads with phrase on her sweater as she details date with Donald Trump

Candice Bergen is making a statement.

The actress appeared on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" on Wednesday night, and the two-word message on her sweatshirt dominated conversation online.

"Free Melania," it read in freehand cursive. And the Trump-talk didn't stop at just her sweater.

Bergen appeared on "WWHL" with her "Home Again" costar Reese Witherspoon, who kept her clothing out of the political conversation in a simple black dress and heels. While Witherspoon and Bergen were playing a game called Candidly Candice, though, the conversation quickly turned back to the Trump family after it was revealed that Bergen went on a date with Donald Trump in college.

"He was wearing a three-piece burgundy suit and burgundy patent leather loafers in a burgundy limousine," she remembered.

Was there chemistry between them?

"No, I was home very early," she said with a sly smile. "There was no physical contact whatsoever.

"He was a good looking guy," she concluded. "And a douche!"

Bergen isn't the only celebrity to have gone on a date with Donald Trump before he was married to Melania. Former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Kim Richards also once when on a date with the future president, while British actress Emma Thompson famously turned down a date with the real estate mogul.
