SANIKILUAQ, Nunavut - A plane with nine people on board has crashed in Nunavut.

Perimeter Aviation confirms its plane crashed in the community of Sanikiluaq, located on the Belcher Islands in Hudson Bay.

Airline President Mark Wehrle says Nunavut authorities have told him that one person died, and a number of others on board were injured.

He says there were were two crew members, six adult passengers and one infant on board.

The flight originated in Winnipeg and crashed around 6 p.m. eastern time near the airport in the Nunavut community.
