Canadian men lose 19-7 to Kenya in Dubai-Sevens rugby quarter-final match

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - The Canadian men suffered a 19-7 loss in their quarter final match against Kenya on day two of the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens.

Collins Injera scored the deciding try for Kenya, his fourth of the tournament.

France surprised Fiji 8-5 in their quarter final, thanks to a late penalty goal from Paul Albaladejo.

France will face Samoa in the first Cup semi final after they beat Wales 19-7 in their quarter final.

In the other Cup quarter final New Zealand was too strong for Portugal with a decisive 28-7 win.

The All Blacks Sevens will now face Kenya in the other Cup semi-final.

The Plate semi-finals will see Canada try to rebound from today's loss with a win against Portugal, and Fiji will play Wales.

Canada and Portugal are both new core teams on the expanded sevens circuit.

The Canadian women, defending champions in Dubai, lost their opening match 15-12 to upstart Russia before bouncing back to beat China 32-0.

They finished the day with a 12-12 tie with New Zealand and play Australia in a quarter-final today.
