Losing close to 250 pounds between them, Nova Scotia couple Michaela and Traves Bezenar have already achieved some serious New Year’s resolutions.
Earlier this year, the pair decided to make a lifestyle change after struggling with obesity for as long as they can remember.
"Before, I did literally nothing. I would walk from the car to wherever I was going and that would be the extent of it," Michaela said in an interview.
"I was very fat but I was happy with my life," said Traves. "I wasn't embarrassed really of my body. I enjoyed eating chips and watching TV."
Traves’s initial reluctance led Michaela to discover a healthier way of life on her own. Exercising at home for 30 minutes a day and eagerly encouraging her husband, it wasn’t long before the couple were both kicking the extra weight.
Since starting their weight loss journey together in April, Michaela has lost a whopping 66 pounds. Traves, more motivated than ever, has lost half his entire body weight, dropping 177 pounds to date.
"Without her, I'd still be 400 pounds," Traves said of his wife's persistence.
"It feels good. I try not to talk about it a lot with people because I don't do it to come off like I'm bragging about it but I'm really happy with the weight that I've lost,” he added.
