Can I Get an Amen? Miley Cyrus Closes VMAs With ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Cast, Flaming Lips
For a moment it looked like Kanye West’s epic, 11-minute Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech would be the most talked-about moment of this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. But then in swooped hostess with the mostess Miley Cyrus, a troupe of 30 RuPaul’s Drag Race queens, and a confetti-gun-wielding Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips – and that was the real mic-drop moment of the night. It was nothing less than an eleganza extravaganza.

Performing “Dooo It!” – a pot-smoking anthem off her brand-new, Coyne-produced surprise album, Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz – Miley hit the stage in Day-Glo Jazzercize wear, while out sashayed all your favorite Drag Race covergirls, totally werking the VMAs runway and lip-synching for their lives: Shangela, Latrice Royale, Carmen Carrera, Vivacious, Willam, Gia Gunn, Miss Fame, Jiggly Caliente, Pandora Boxx, Sharon Needles, Alyssa Edwards, Courtney Act, Pearl, and many, many more.
Reigning champ Violet Chachki received special attention, enjoying some handsy, lip-locked action with the mistress of ceremonies herself, but it was Drag Race underdog Laganja Estranja who really stole the show with this sickening death-drop:

Not to be upstaged, Miley’s buddy Coyne later got in on the fun, by shooting confetti from Miley’s neon crotch. Miley’s VMAs finale performance wasn’t all raunch 'n’ Ru, however. In a serious moment, her number was introduced by members of the transgender community, including Glee Project alum Tyler Ford.
Immediately after her performance, Miley announced that her Lips-associated new album Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz was now available to stream on her website for free; her website crashed soon thereafter.
