Campaign to save bookshop after ceiling collapse

A campaign has been launched to save a Burton upon Trent bookshop after it was forced to temporarily close.

Books and Banter on Station Street said the closure was because of several ceiling collapses, and a loss of power to the building.

Supporters have raised more than £2,000 towards its £10,000 target, which will help pay for an alternative venue.

"We don't want to lose our beautiful community, but we don't know what else to do. Our world has literally fallen apart." the owners said on GoFundMe.

The venue, which was due to mark its 3rd birthday next week, sells books and games, hosts live music, and community, gaming, and writing groups.

Customers and supporters expressed their sadness on social media and GoFundMe.

One user wrote: "This place needs to be saved; it's more than just a shop or a place to play games, it's genuinely a community centre."
