Call the Midwife actress Helen George has shared an update on her latest project.

George has been part of the current stage production of The King and I for a while now, but that's coming to an end imminently.

The actress shared a photo of herself in costume, holding a potato with a smiley face squiggled onto it, to her Instagram Stories.

"One week left to come and see us! (Potato purely for comfort and unrelated to the show)," she wrote.

George's time on The King and I is wrapping up as the actress is surrounded by rumours that she will be leaving Call the Midwife soon, especially as the rumours that her on-screen husband Olly Rix were leaving turned out to be true, with his departure airing in the latest episode.

"It's great being part of the Call the Midwife family. For now," he said.

"You've got to watch to the end of this series. There are a few surprises ahead, a few bumps in the road. We'll see how much longer I'm part of the family!"

George's character Trixie remained behind despite her husband's exit, and although there's one episode of the current series left, Digital Spy understands that the actress isn't set to leave the show.

With filming for next year's series also set to commence in April, her stint on The King and I gives George a little bit of down time before donning Trixie's costume once again.

Call the Midwife airs Sunday nights on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
