Call the Midwife season 13 finale spoilers follow.

Call the Midwife star Georgie Glen has provided fans with an exciting filming update for season 14.

The actress, who plays Miss Higgins on the long-running BBC drama, revealed that production will begin "at the end of April" in a new interview with RadioTimes.

Glen also shared that she is "so looking forward to going back, not least because it's an actor with a job on the horizon, but also because it's such wonderful company".

"To know we're all going to reunite again, it's lovely. And there were a few cliffhangers at the end of the episode, various other storylines, and who knows where they're going to go," she added.

One big question fans will be eager to see resolved in season 14 is the fate of Trixie (Helen George) and Matthew (Olly Rix).

The penultimate episode of season 13 saw Matthew jet off to New York without Trixie, only for her to decide to follow him in the finale.

While Digital Spy understands that George will not be leaving Call the Midwife, the same cannot be said for Rix, as it's been reported that the actor might not be returning.

Unless anything is revealed to us before then, it looks like we'll have to wait until season 14 to find out whether he'll be making an appearance.

"They're dealing with a huge challenge and who knows how that will pan out," Glen commented. "There aren't happy endings that you can ever take for granted. They may overcome it, they may not."

Call the Midwife airs on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
