California releases new requirements, recommendations for 'mega-events'

The California Department of Public Health released new requirements and recommendations for what's considered mega-events to reduce COVID-19 transmission. The changes will take place Tuesday. In its guidance, the state defines an indoor mega-event as having 1,000 or more people and an outdoor mega-event as having 10,000 or more people. A mega-event can be a convention, concert, nightclub, sporting event, fair, theme park, private event, race, car show or other large event. For indoor mega-events, attendees must provide proof that they are fully vaccinated or have a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before the event. Attendees of indoor mega-events may no longer self-attest to verify their vaccine status or negative test results. This is a requirement by the state.
