SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — The gunman who killed five people in a rampage that ended on the Santa Monica College campus had sporadically taken electronic game design classes at the Southern California school.
The college said Monday that 23-year-old John Zawahri (zuh-WAH'-ree) first attended Santa Monica College in winter 2009 and last attended in fall 2010.
A college statement says all of Zawahri's classes were in the "Entertainment Technology" program, which involves digital technologies related to game design, animation and computer skills for digital media.
The statement says the college had no disciplinary issues with Zawahri.
On Friday, Zawahri killed his father and brother at a home near the campus, then opened fire on strangers as he made his way to the college, where police shot him to death in the library.
