Calhoon wins circuit judge nomination without runoff

Dee Dee Calhoon took the Republican nomination Tuesday without the need for a runoff for the new circuit judge’s post for the 19th Judicial Circuit, according to complete but unofficial results.

Calhoon gathered 14,002 votes to Nicole Clark’s 5,914 and Jacquelyn Tomlinson’s 6,969. The circuit covers Autauga, Chilton and Elmore counties. There is no Democratic candidate qualified to run in the November general elections.

“It is an honor to win the election and I want to thank everyone who worked overtime for me win the election,” said Calhoon, a Prattville resident. “I look forward to serving the people of Autauga, Chilton and Elmore counties as their newest circuit judge.”

In 2023 the Legislature funded the new judgeship due to case load numbers in the circuit. The post will concentrate on family law issues, including divorce, child custody and other related cases, but will also have a criminal and civil case load.
