Caldwell, Roberts take board seats; SUD proposition fails

May 4—The Unofficial Election results from the May 4 Special Election for two board positions on the Board of Directors for the Riverside Special Utility District (SUD) and Proposition A for the Walker County Emergency Service District (ESD) No. 3.

The Unofficial Results include early voting as well as Election Day votes.

In the Board of Directors race for Riverside SUD, Kathleen Caldwell and Cody Roberts will take places on the board. Caldwell had 70 votes, Roberts had 65 votes, Bill Tutor had 28 votes, and Chuck Battles had 20 votes. Walker County Elections Administrator Diana McRae confirmed the numbers posted at 7:48 p.m. Saturday evening.

In the Walker County ESD No. 3 Proposition A election, with 82 votes against and 63 votes for, the effort fails with 56.55 percent versus 43.45 percent for the proposal.

With 9,389 voters eligible in the areas up for election, only 2.67 percent took to the polls to cast their vote. That was a total of 251 voters.

With 101 early votes cast, McRae also confirmed that polls Saturday had 150 voters at the Walker County Annex.

The next election will be held on May 28, for the Republicn Primary Runoff Election.

Republic Primary candidates are Ben Bius and Trey Wharton for State House Representative for District 12.

Early voting will begin May 20 and run through May 24. All early voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Walker County Storm Shelter, 455 State Highway 75 North.

The last day to apply to vote by mail is 5 p.m. Friday, May 17. Applications must be submitted by mail, common or contract carrier, email or fax; but an original is required.

Election Day will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.

Countywide polling locations include: Walker County Storm Shelter; University Heights Baptist Church Fellowship Hall; New Waverly First Baptist Church; Huntsville ISD Transportation Building; Cook Springs Baptist Church; Northside Baptist Church; Riverside Global Methodist Church; and Walker County Annex.

There are no Democratic elections during this election.
