The accolades just keep coming for Caitlin Clark.
The senior guard at the University of Iowa has been named a finalist for the 94th AAU James E. Sullivan Award. The award recognizes players who show leadership, citizenship, character and sportsmanship on and off the field. She won the award last year. The only other Hawkeye to win the award was wrestler Spencer Lee in 2019.
The winner is decided by the AAU Sullivan Award Committee, AAU Board of Directors, sports media and previous winners. Voting for the Sullivan Award is open to the public. Voting starts today and runs through Tuesday, March 19 at 11:59 p.m. Fans can vote once every 24 hours; click here to see the finalists and vote. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 23 at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC).
Clark has also been named a finalist for the Dawn Staley Point Guard of the Year Award by the Phoenix Club of Philadelphia. The award is given to the most outstanding collegiate guard in the country, a player who exemplifies the skills that Staley displayed during her career – ball handling, scoring, the ability to distribute the ball and a will to win. Clark is the first three time winner in the award’s history. The winner will be announced the weekend of the Final Four and a virtual award ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 11.
Clark was named Big 10 Player of the Year and is the first player in the history of the program to be named First Team All-Big 10 four times in four years. She’s led the Hawkeyes to three straight Big 10 Championships for the first time in the program’s history.
