New cafe set to open inside the State College Regional Airport. ‘They can count on us’

A new cafe is prepared to open Saturday inside the State College Regional Airport.

Penn Valley Cafe is set to operate from the space most recently home to Bees Knees Coffee, which closed in December. Its menu includes hot and cold drinks, subs, paninis, salads, hot dogs, empanadas, quesadillas, omelets, bagels and more.

Owner Francisco Plaza said he and his wife are hoping the cafe will be a “standout addition to the airport scene.”

“I promise to deliver exceptional cuisine and hospitality,” Plaza said. “I’m very enthusiastic.”

Several items, like the empanadas, will be homemade. Daily specials are also planned. Plaza said alcoholic drinks will not be offered when the cafe first opens, but may be in the future. A gift shop is also in the works.

The cafe is scheduled to be open 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily. The airport offers free parking for up to two hours.

“I want them to feel like they’re home and they say, ‘Wow, it’s nice to come to this airport. We can have different kinds of dishes, fresh food,’ “ Plaza said. “They can count on us.”
