Buzzing tenants evicted from Fayette County Courthouse
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There was a literal beehive of activity at the Fayette County Courthouse this week as crews removed some working honey bees that had taken up residence in the building.
The Fayette County Courthouse is undergoing renovations. While working on the new roof construction, workers discovered bees in the walls and called in the professionals.
A video released by the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency shows beekeepers at work and thousands of bees flying out of the building’s side and from the rooftop.
You can also see the beekeepers pulling out pieces of honeycomb. The beekeepers were doing their best to save and relocate the bee colony.
“We need our bees! Honey Bees are our pollinators. They pollinate crops, fruits, vegetables, and nuts. They also give us some great local honey,” said the Fayette County EMA.
The Fayette County EMA hasn’t said how many bees were inside the courthouse.
