Business roaster oven catches fire in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) — On April 13, Franklin Fire and Rescue received a call for a fire alarm around 12:10 p.m. at a commercial facility on 32126 General Thomas Highway. The facility had a fire in the roaster/oven. The appliance was shutdown and employees evacuated.

Crews found that the building was very smoky, but the fire had been contained to the roaster and exhaust system. They called additional crews and the damage is being assessed. Crews were on the scene as of 7 p.m. monitoring the situation. There were no injuries reported.

A vast amount of departments were involved including Franklin Fire and Rescue, Boykins Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Carrsville Volunteer Fire, Courtland Volunteer Fire, Courtland Volunteer Rescue, Hunterdale Volunteer Fire, Isle of Wight Emergency Services, Newsoms Volunteer Fire, Sedley Volunteer Fire, Ivor Volunteer Fire, Suffolk Fire and Rescue and Windsor Volunteer Fire.
