Buses replace Green Line trains after downed wire causes sparks, smoke

Buses were forced to temporarily replace Green Line service Sunday after a downed wire sent sparks flying and filled the Park Street station with smoke.

Video from a bystander captures the loud gunshot-like bangs after the wire came down.

According to MBTA spokesperson Joe Pesaturo, no one was hurt during the incident but buses were forced to temporarily replace trains between the Government Center and Kenmore Stations while the MBTA Power Department repaired the track.

The Red Line portion of the train station remained open.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
