In the Tuesday, Feb. 21, meeting members of the Bossier City Council decided to remove From the agenda the ordinance that would cut SporTran's budget by $400,000.

In a statement read by Bossier City public information officer Erin Buchanan the city council voted to remove item one on the agenda. She said, "after much discussion, the City Council feels that citizens are best served by the removal of this agenda item, and by the request of a detailed analysis of SporTran’s financials in terms of their agreement with the City of Bossier City."

The city said that the next steps will be a thorough examination of the utilization of SporTran's service within Bossier City.

SporTran CEO Dinero' Washington said, "we will work with Bossier over the next coming weeks and as information comes available that's ready to be shared, we will definitely share."

This decision to remove the item from the agenda came as a surprise to the audience and SporTran. Washington said, "I wish we had learned about it earlier, but we will accept what we got."

As of now Bossier City citizens can expect no new changes to bus schedules until the council and SporTran comes up with a decision on how to serve the citizens.

Buchanan said, "the City Council is committed to being judicious financial stewards of taxpayer dollars and stands ready to make the decisions necessary to continually fulfill that commitment."
