An Alabama bus driver made sure his students didn’t go to school hungry on Tuesday after the school’s opening was delayed due to icy roads — meaning breakfast couldn’t be served. Wayne Price made a quick pitstop to buy McDonald’s biscuits for his entire bus of students.

Montevallo Elementary School, located just south of Birmingham, Ala., posted the heartwarming story to Facebook on Wednesday, writing that Price “truly demonstrates the spirit of Christmas.”

When parents were told that breakfast wouldn’t be served because school was starting late, not everyone had time to eat before the bus showed up. The county’s transportation coordinator, Rick Vines, told Birmingham news station WBRC that he believes Price bought 30 to 40 biscuits.

Parents and former students shared their admiration for the bus driver on Facebook, describing Price as a beloved figure in the Montevallo community.

“Thank you sir for taking care of our babies!!,” one parent commented.

“Anyone who knows Wayne Price would know that this isn’t a random moment,” another commenter said. “In the almost 20 years of knowing him, I’ve seen this man give so much of himself to his community. I’ve experienced first hand the hope and guidance he brings to people who may not find it anywhere else.”
