Burt Reynolds' interview with Hoda Kotb on Thursday's episode of the "Today" show is garnering criticism from viewers.

The actor appeared on the NBC morning show to discuss his new film, "The Last Movie Star," but his overall "uncomfortable" demeanor, as well as a number of his "unsettling" comments are being questioned -- while people also praised Kotb for handling the situation like a pro.

During the interview, Reynolds and Kotb discussed his legendary career, his relationship with his father, his latest project and wanting George Clooney to portray him in a film about his life, among other things.

It was "tough," Reynolds said of his relationship with his father, "but I loved him."

When Kotb asked who the actor considers to be the love of his life, he proclaimed that the "Today" personality was "naughty" for asking such a question, but answered her regardless.

"I'm dead in the water no matter what I say," he went on. "Well, she was seven when I fell in love with her. She stayed seven for about 11 years. I would say Sally [Field]. [...] She was -- well, she is still -- you know, I wanted her really bad for 'Smokey [and the Bandit].' They said, 'Well, she isn't sexy.' And I said, 'You don't get it: Talent is sexy!' And she's got that."

Reynolds would've been around 18 when Field (now 71) was seven.

After discussing his new movie, Kotb wrapped up the interview before the 82-year-old actor left her with one final, head-scratching comment.

"I am so proud of you for not having the lips larger!" he proclaimed, seemingly out of nowhere.

Kotb, clearly unsure how to respond, just laughed and said, "Okay, alright Burt!"

After the interview aired on NBC this morning, viewers took to Twitter to react to the "bizarre" interview.

"Is Burt Reynolds ok???" one user asked. "Why did he tell Hoda that he was glad her lips weren’t larger??? Weirdo!!!"

"This interview with Burt Reynolds is painful," someone else wrote. "Thank goodness for Hoda."

"Who’s great idea was it to have Burt Reynolds on tv so early in the morning??" someone else questioned. "That interview with Hoda was so awkward and uncomfortable to watch. The man is 82 and frail, something makeup and a bad hair piece can’t hide."
