Russia dealt a serious blow to Ukraine's energy system with a massive missile and drone strike on the country's energy infrastructure overnight on May 8.
Russia launched over 50 cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as over 20 Shahed kamikaze drones at sites in the Poltava, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhya, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Vinnytsia oblasts.
In addition to the many critical energy infrastructure sites damaged or destroyed, at least 30 residential buildings, public transport, rail, cars, and a State Emergency Service facility were damaged, Ukraine's Internal Affairs Ministry reported.

Russia hit two energy infrastructure facilities in Lviv Oblast, with fires reported at an energy generation facility in Chervonohrad district, and a critical energy infrastructure facility in Stryi district
Three DTEK thermal power plants were seriously damaged in the attack

Kyiv Oblast
Two people were injured in the village of Krasylivka near Brovary and 13 private buildings were destroyed or damaged by enemy missile debris.
Zaporizhzhya
Russia struck critical and civil infrastructure facilities, a garage, a city park, and the city's electric transport. A Zaporizhzhya fire department was also destroyed, the State Emergency Service reported.
Kirovohrad Oblast
An 8-year-old child was injured and a critical infrastructure object damaged in the Oleksandriyskyi district, while at least 13 private homes and three dozen garages were destroyed
Kyiv during the mass attack on May 8
