Burnsville 15-year-old dies in car crash
A 15-year-old from Burnsville died due to injuries sustained from a car crash on Jan. 25, according to a news release from the Hennepin County medical examiner.
Brilly Karen Cabrera Carchi was a passenger in a car that crashed around 12:30 a.m. on East Burnsville Parkway near Portland Avenue. The car left the road and hit a tree in the median, said Burnsville Police Captain Matt Smith.
The 15-year-old driver was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The boy did not have a driver’s license and was driving his mother’s Nissan Altima, Smith said.
Smith said the investigation is ongoing and the Minnesota State Patrol is helping Burnsville police with crash reconstruction.
A GoFundMe was set up for Carchi by her older sister, Andrea Cabrera Carchi, who wrote “I don’t believe our family will ever be full again, her warmth was taken away without warning.”
Carchi would have turned 16 this March and had dreams of graduating and getting her driver’s license.
