Apple made news Tuesday with the hiring of Burberry CEO Angela Ahrendts. The company will be bringing her on this spring to become senior vice president of its retail and online Apple store operations.

Since its jump into physical retail space in 2001, Apple's stores have been characterized by their unique, elegant style and simple layouts, taking many cues from fashion labels in its profile. Apple now has over 400 Apple Stores in 13 countries, while Burberry operates over 500 stores in more than 50 countries.
