Bunny’s Tavern has announced on their Facebook page that they have reopened for normal business hours on Tuesday. The tavern closed yesterday, during the late afternoon, after sustaining a small fire.

Last night, they shared on their account that, “A small fire had broke out today, but everyone and everything is okay! Big thanks to the Urbana Fire Department and their crew.”

The fire happened at Bunny’s Tavern at 119 West Water Street. Roofing work was being performed around the time the fire broke out, but the cause remains under investigation.

The restaurant had to be evacuated, but no one was hurt. Among other things, the fire department had to cut a hole in the wall of the restaurant to access the inside.

Bunny’s staff said on the business Facebook page that the restaurant is closed at this time, but the fire was small and “everyone and everything is ok.” Staff added that they hope to reopen for normal hours on Tuesday.

This is a developing story.
