Buffett reiterates optimism about US economy
Investor Warren Buffett still optimistic about US economy but faster growth will come later
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Investor Warren Buffett remains optimistic about the long-term future of the U.S. economy, but he doesn't expect business to take off anytime soon.
An interview with Buffett aired on ABC on Sunday — one day after the billionaire spent six hours answering questions from his Berkshire Hathaway shareholders.
Buffett says he thinks the economy will continue to gradually improve. He has been seeing that trend in Berkshire's businesses since the fall of 2009.
Buffett says it will take time for the pace of growth to pick up. Most people want the economy to move faster, but Buffett says the problems the country faced in 2008 were bigger than anyone had seen.
Buffett is Berkshire's chairman and CEO. The Omaha-based conglomerate owns more than 80 companies and holds several major investments.
