Buffalo man killed in early morning shooting on Hertel Avenue

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Early Tuesday morning, a Buffalo man was killed in a shooting on Hertel Avenue.

Buffalo police said the shooting happened just after 1 a.m.

The alleged shooter and the victim, neither of whom were named during a conference Tuesday morning, were inside Del Denby Tavern before a fight took place on the outside patio of the bar, which is located between Parkside Avenue and Wellington Road.

The victim, who was identified as a 46-year-old, was taken to ECMC by ambulance where he was later declared deceased. Buffalo police believe the alleged shooter and the victim were known to each other, noting that this was not a random act of violence.

Three years ago, another shooting took place outside of Del Denby Tavern after police said there was a disturbance inside the bar that led to the incident.

Buffalo police are looking to speak with potential witnesses, and anyone with information is asked to call or text the Buffalo Police Department’s confidential tip line at (716) 847-2255.
