In what can only be described as an epic collapse from the Buffalo Bills, the team blew a 15-point third quarter lead en-route to a 38-24 loss against the dominant Oakland Raiders. With the loss, the Bills fall to 6-6 on the season and are possibly looking at another season without playoff football, a streak that began with the most previous turn of the century.

Playing out of their minds for about the first 40-minutes of the game, Buffalo looked poised to spring a somewhat shocking upset in Oakland. After all, coming into the game, the Bills looked unstoppable on both offense and defense. Up that point, the Bills offense showed that it was capable of scoring while the defense managed to keep Oakland out of the endzone entirely.

That all changed midway through the third quarter. Capping off a nine play, 75-yard drive with a three yard touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree, the Raiders took the game’s momentum and never looked back. Scoring touchdowns on three of their final five possessions of the game, Oakland took a 38-24 lead on Buffalo.

Not only did that momentum swing boost the offense, it also boosted the Raiders defense. Following that touchdown midway through the third quarter, Buffalo only managed 70-yards on it’s next six possessions. These six possessions also included an interception and fumble while the team’s final drive of the game ended with the game.

Compounding these issues was the play of Tyrod Taylor. Even with a strong rushing performance from LeSean McCoy and Mike Gillislee, Taylor only managed to throw for 191-yards. Completing just over 50 percent of his passes during the contest, Taylor was responsible for both the interception and the fumble late in the game.

With the Bills not sitting at 6-6, the playoff race appears to be out of the team’s reach. Games against the Jets and Dolphins still remain this season as well as a visit from the Pittsburgh Steelers next week. Heck, even the Browns game may be competitive with that team’s want for a win.

Overall, there are still many problems that need addressing this week. If they continue to be issues, it may not only signal and end to the Buffalo Bills playoff chase but also to the tenure of head coach Rex Ryan.
