Buckle February key revenue metric falls 1.1 pct

The Buckle posts 1.1 pct drop in February revenue at stores open at least a year

KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) -- The Buckle's February revenue at stores open at least a year fell 1.1 percent, which is better than Wall Street predicted.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the teen retailer to post a decrease of 2.7 percent. Revenue at stores open at least a year is considered a key indicator of a retailer's health, because it strips away the impact of recently opened or closed locations.

Net sales for the four-week period ended March 2 rose 2.9 percent to $89.3 million from $86.7 million.

The Buckle Inc. will announce fourth quarter and full-year fiscal 2012 earnings on March 14.

The company, based in Kearney, Neb., sells clothing and accessories, with a focus on denim. It has 441 stores in 43 states as of March 7, up from 431 stores a year ago.
