Don’t look now if you’re an Atlanta Falcons fan, but please look if you’re a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. This squad is just half a game out of first in the NFC South after consecutive road wins.

Sunday Moments: The best plays from Week 7 of NFL football

The Buccaneers crushed the San Francisco 49ers, 34-17 on Sunday, improving their record to 3-3. Couple that with consecutive losses from the Falcons, and now the Bucs control their own destiny for the rest of the season. It’s early to say that, but just something to know going forward.

With a strong performance against the 49ers, the Buccaneers moved up on power rankings from across the internet. On ESPN.com, they jumped all of the way from 28th to 20th:

“Raise your hand if you thought it would be Jacquizz Rodgers who would be saving the Buccaneers’ season. Rodgers has posted his first two career 100-yard rushing games his past two games, rushing a total of 56 times. Rodgers & Co. will look to repeat against the Raiders in Week 8.”

On NFL.com, the Buccaneers surprisingly stayed at 21st overall. Not sure what was the 3-4 Los Angeles Rams ahead of them at number 20, though.

Going over to CBS power rankings from Pete Prisco, the Buccaneers moved up four spots and are 21st this week.

The Buccaneers still have a long ways to go. Games against the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks await. But for now, the Buccaneers have to stay focused on improving themselves. They’ve done that for three weeks and it’s put them right back in the playoff race.
