Redskins trade for Stork, maybe.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, the New England Patriots have traded center Bryan Stork to the Washington Redskins for a conditional 7th round pick.

Adam Schefter from ESPN had this tweet:

The oddest part of this story is the news that Stork may be retiring instead of accepting the trade to Washington, as rumored in this tweet by Chris Cooley:

This from Redskins insider J.P. Finlay and reported by CSN-Mid Atlantic: “The Patriots selected Stork in the fourth round of the 2014 draft from Florida State, and in two seasons with New England he has started 17 games. Stork has also dealt with concussion issues, last year playing just eight games and starting six. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 315 lbs., Stork is big for a center. Current Redskins starter Kory Lichtensteiger lists at 6-foot-2 and 295 lbs., and was limited to five regular season games last season.”

Also on the roster at the center position are Spencer Long and Josh LeRibeus.

Josh Norman free to speak his mind

Apperently, as a member of the Carolina Panthers, Redskins cornerback Josh Norman felt stifled from voiving opinions or his own brand of commentary. I don’t think he feels that way any longer as evident by the non-stop barrage of material coming from him.

John Keim from ESPN had an interesting piece today that talks to the type of environment that Redskins head coach Jay Gruden promotes. This from Gruden:

“You have to let them bethemselves within limits,” he said. “They can’t be a distraction and I have total faith they won’t go out and say or do anything stupid. If they do they have to be accountable, like I do.”

Whether or not Josh Norman and his endless loop of opinions becomes a distraction is yet to be seen. But don’t think other players aren’t taking notice and remembering what some of those opinions are.

It’s a long season, and unless Norman is matching what he says with his play on the field, his season could be longer than any he experienced in Carolina.
