Brush fires continue to blaze across Spruce Mountain

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — Yet another fire has sprung up on Spruce Mountain, right off Route 1, Clear Creek Road.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for entire region

The fire spread over the mountain stopping just inches from the roadside.

The West Virginia Division of Forestry Region 4 confirmed the fire was 30 acres.

They also confirmed this is the fifth fire on Spruce Mountain since fire season began on March 1st.

This fire is currently contained, as of Monday, April 15, 2024.

According to the Division of Forestry’s website, there have been 94 fires in the Region 4 area since fire season started.
