Browse books, drink brews at Snowbound’s adult-only book fair

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – Remember the book fair at school when you were a kid? At Snowbound Books’ Books and Brews, you can relive that experience as an adult.

The fourth annual Books and Brews event is an adults-only book fair, where you can browse for a new book while simultaneously sipping on an alcoholic beverage. The event will be held at Ore Dock Brewing Company on March 24. There will crafts, giveaways, literary trivia, and of course, books and brews.

“It’s kind of a harkening back to the Scholastic Book Fair days of our youth. It should be fun. Lots of beer, lots of books, a lot of rainbow colors, not too many though, for sure,” said Snowbound Bookseller Gretchen McKenzie. “We’ll have crafts, we’ll be doing trivia starting at 6 p.m., but it’ll be a really nicely cultivated collection of books that aren’t necessarily what we always have in store. And it should just be a fun experience, even if you’re a Snowbound regular or if you’ve never gone before, come and meet us. It will be super great.”

The event has grown over the years and has become popular with the community.

“I think that [Books and Brews] is a really great event to have,” said Amanda Courchaine, the engagement liaison for Ore Dock Brewing Company. “It encourages folks to step away from technology a little bit, you know, get absorbed into a book. We have a lot of people here at the or not cool just come in, especially in the summer when our patio is open just with a good book and they just sit down and [drink] a beer. So, if we can support this and try and partner with snowbound as much as possible, we just love doing that.”

Books and Brews is on Sunday, March 24 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ore Dock Brewing Company in Marquette. There is no admission fee for the event.
