Brown County health officials confirm multiple cases of Whooping Cough
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Health officials say Whooping Cough is on the rise in Brown County.
Brown County Public Health Deputy Health Officer Katrina Nordyke says the illness can cause a strong discomfort.
“Pertussis is a bacteria that can attach itself to the lining of your lungs, it can cause you to become ill and have symptoms like sneezing coughing, and low-grade fever,” stated Nordyke.

Infants under the age of one, pregnant women, and individuals with a compromised immune system are at risk. Nordyke encourages you to use safety precautions, “Check to see if you’re up to date on your vaccinations, you can ask your medical provider. Also if you are feeling ill and having any of these symptoms, reach out to your medical provider for guidance, there’s a treatment and they can test and treat according to your specific case,” said Nordyke.
Experts say you may experience similar symptoms due to pollen, but testing is the only way to be sure of your status.
