Brothers arrested in connection to burglaries at mosque, Buddhist temple in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Police said two brothers face charges in connection to two burglaries, including break-ins at homes attached to a mosque and a Buddhist temple.

The Montgomery County Department of Police (MCPD) said that officers arrested Alex Dumitru, 23, and Natalian Dumitru, 18, at their home in Catonsville, Md., which is located in Baltimore County.

Police said there was a series of five burglaries in the county in March and April. Detectives identided the Dumitrus as people responsible for two of the crimes, which took place at these locations:

  • A home attached to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in the 15000 block of Good Hope Rd.

  • US Zen Institute in the 19200 block of Liberty Mill Rd.

MCPD said when police searched the brothers’ home, they found evidence connecting them to the burglaries. The Dumitrus face charges related to each.

As of May 15, the police department said it still was investigating similar crimes at three other locations:

  • A home in the 2300 block of Spencefville Rd.

  • The Noor Center in the 20500 block of Boland Farm Rd.

  • A home attached to Wat Thai Washington, D.C. in the 13400 block of Layhill Rd.
