These bros "surfing" a turtle on Australia's Fraser Island could be in quite some trouble, after a picture of the act was shared on Facebook in attempt to find them.

It shows the two men, with cans of beer in hand, standing on the animal. "Surfed a tortoise on zee weekend.. gnarly duddddeeeee," the photo's caption reads.

The unknown pair are now being investigated by the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, who could be slapped with a maximum fine of A$19,965 (US$15,259) if they're found to have interfered with a natural resource.

"There is some evidence to suggest that this turtle was deceased at the time of the photo. QPWS are taking this matter seriously and investigating further," a QPWS spokesperson said in a statement via email.

RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty was less subtle about what he thought of the photo when he spoke to the Fraser Coast Chronicle.

"These guys are just complete idiots — there's no way they should be doing what they were doing," he told the newspaper.

"Per usual, they've been idiots and posted it on Facebook...(and) hopefully people on Facebook will let them know what idiots they were."

Take that, dudddeees.
